Name: Wesley

Interests: I have a lot of interests too!! Most of them are focused around trying to get a handle on this life since I only get to live this one once. That said, I usually end up interested in things that seem unimportant, like naming things (because it's sad to be nameless), reading about things that I don't know about like philosophy, psychology, and random research. I'm going to be a constant learner (Dork!). I also like to read comic books (Double Dork!!), and to write stories and poetry. I like to be surrounded by people because talking to OTHER people seems less crazy. I like good conversation and adventures that don't have predisclosed outcomes. I like to strive to find original moments. I hate the cliche (though I can be hipocritical when it comes to this). I like to teach new things to people because it's fun to see them have that "I get it!" moment, plus I think we should all be learning as much as possible while we still can.
Expertise: cooking, putting bitches in their place, making out-not gonna lie-I'm a good kisser, racing turtles-I can't lose!!!

Cookie Post

I made 12 dozen cookies for our centennial event and hand drew the symbol on them and Sab was nice enough to help with coloring my line drawings.  Anyhow, here's a pic of the final product (if you multiply it by 150):

They look kinda like a kindergartener did them, but whatev.  They're delicious.

So anyway, One of my instructors came to me at the first reception.  He waved a cookie menacingly at me.

"Did you make these?"

"Yeah."

"This doesn't raise my opinion of you."

"Um, ok...?"

"I mean, they're cool, but you're fucking crazy for doing this."

"Right?"

"I mean, it's not a compliment, I --"

"Steven, maybe just stop there and I'll find whatever good I can in your words."

He shrugged and shook his head disapprovingly.  I couldn't help adding a campy "You're welcome.  Have a nice night."

There's my cookie post.

I had to.

Since I got a pretty pathetic email from Xanga saying that it missed me, I thought I should update here.

The things that have been going on in my life, lets see...

Well, my older brother and his wife's kid (my one and only niece, Abby) is starting to pull herself up onto things.  She'll be walking in no time.  The progression from lump on ground, to rolling, to crawling, to standing is much faster than it seemed last I remembered.

My younger brother is being a flake and after I got him in touch with the UNO theatre to work on sound (since he supposedly wants to work as a sound engineer) he decided he didn't have time.  Although he has an awful lot of time to sit on his ass and play video games.  I worry that he's becoming a miniature version of Qadir (sans the berserker rage, of course).

My other younger brother decided to get his girlfriend pregnant and is dealing with that.  He has days on end where he is just gone doing who knows what and it seems as though I'm the only one who sees that as a problem.  So he stole a couple things and probably pawned them.  That doesn't mean he's irretrievably gone down the dark path toward oblivion.  The interesting thing about the whole situation is the enlightening that has come of it.  I saw papers of emancipation and my father has quickly signed him off as dead.  Funny thing is, that before the troubles started, he was a more favored child than I.  I wonder sometimes, were my mother not around in the past 5-7 years (since the whole gay thing came up and my father and I stopped speaking except out of neccessity), if I'd have been the one kicked to the curb.

Um...other than that I don't know what would be fascinating for this update.  I've pretty much been doing the same things I always do; working at school, helping friends/the department, etc.  I contemplated moving in with Sabrina, but can't afford to with the pennies that I'm paid for teaching.  I could, I guess, get another job, but that would be both insane schedulewise and cause conflicts with Cindy's intention on owning me for a while.  It's not off the table, but I don't need either of those headaches right now.  Um...so yeah.  There's my update.  No more nasty pathetic emails.  Alright, Xanga?

This may be the alcohol speaking...

Does anyone watch movies or shows from the past decades?  Or from different countries?  I do.  I like to watch shows and movies from the foreign section at the video store and to watch "vintage" movies or television shows.  Not the remakes, which are ridden with current day sensibilities and propaganda, but media that actually originates in the 50's and 60's.  There seems to be a now lost humanity that's overwhelming and refreshing (if you ignore the obvious racist and oppressively phallocentric edge that those eras inherently carried).

There seems to be a daily detriment that pervades and corrupts society and the media follows suit.  It seems that the younger generations (One of which I am a part of) carry little regard anymore for the things that do not directly effect their lives.  I hate to hear the 40+'s making statements about the irresponsibility of today's youth.

At the same time, however, I know that, in many instances, I fit the desciption.  So, this is a call to arms for the 20's group.  I know that it may fall on some deaf ears, but for those of you that hear and take it to heart, let's all (myself included) take moments out of our own lives to look around and take in what is going on.  This includes politically (be sure to vote, guys), socially and interpersonally.  Just try it.  If you make a serious effort and it's not for you, then at least you can say that you tried.

In conclusion, c'moooooon!!

P.S. thanks for your time and humouring me.

So, I intended to send my drunktext message to Mike, the hot boy I know.  Instead, I sent it to Mike Markey...'nuff said.  That is all.

There is a sane government out there...?

Check this shocker out:

gay-baby-italy-thumb

This poster from a gay rights campaign features the tagline "homosexuality is not a choice."  This alone is not the shocker.  The shocker is that this highly controversial campaign is a project of the regional government of Tuscany, Italy.

To me, it's seems, if not impossible, very improbable that a government would make people squirm over its Liberal politics...uncanny.
